A group of mums from Berkhamsted have set up a charity which aims “to give the gift of Christmas” to families in Berkhamsted and surrounding villages.
Toy Hub was launched last month as a registered charity after the group discovered that many children in the local area are at risk of going without Christmas presents this year.
The charity supplies new and like-new toys to local families who otherwise would struggle to buy gifts for their children at Christmas.
Speaking to BERKHAMSTEDnews, Lou, one of the trustees, said the charity can help families within the HP4 and HP23 postcodes.
She said: “We all felt COVID-19 had hit everyone hard so then with the cost-of-living crisis, we felt there was a real need to support families.“The number of struggling families in those postcodes is way more than we initially thought.
“There’s a misconception that if you live in a wealthy area you will be exempt from these things, but there are many reasons why people struggle.”
