Residents have launched a petition opposing a proposal to convert a family home in Garston Park into a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO).
The petition calls on Watford Borough Council to reject the conversion, with residents raising concerns about increased population density, congestion and parking pressures.
Those behind the petition say an HMO could also affect the stability and character of the residential area, which they describe as home to families, retirees and long-term residents.
The petition creator said: “HMOs often attract transient populations which can disrupt the stability and character of our local community that relies on resident involvement and long-standing relationships among neighbours.”
The plans on Coates Way also raise concerns about additional pressure on communal resources and local public services, including waste collection and public transport facilities.
Residents further claim the conversion could affect living standards and property values, while arguing the existing community framework supports a balanced residential setting.
The petition asks residents to sign in support of its request for the council to deny the application and “preserve the character” of Garston Park.
