A Chorleywood councillor has quit his role.

Chris Hayward stepped down from his office as a Three Rivers Rural county councillor with no reason yet given for his departure.

The now former councillor who is married to Three Rivers District Council’s Conservative group leader Cllr Alex Hayward, was responsible for Chorleywood, Maple Cross, Sarratt, and Gade Valley.

Mr Hayward’s decision means there is one fewer Conservative county councillors in position. It now leaves two Tory county councillors, two Lib Dems and one Labour councillor representing TRDC.

A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire County Council said: “The county council has received the resignation of Cllr Chris Hayward.

“To call an election in the Three Rivers Rural electoral division, a request must be made in writing to the Proper Officer by two electors within the county.”
