One current and one former pupil of a Northwood school were invited to a special reception at Buckingham Palace last month.
Cani, a Year 13 pupil at St Helen’s School, and alumna Ria arrived at the home of the British monarchy last month, having recently earned their prestigious Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Gold award.
DoE aims to support young people’s development by helping them learn new skills, make friends, and take part in a variety of different activities.
To achieve the highest level of the prize, Cani and Ria completed 12 months of volunteering, a four-day expedition, a five-day shared activity away from home, and several months in the award’s Physical and Skills section.
A spokesperson for St Helen’s School said: “While the day itself is a memorable one, the DofE journey is far more that one day and represents a journey of discovery that stays with all who complete it far into their future.
“We are exceptionally proud of Cani and Ria on being awarded their respective Gold DofE award, and we look forward to celebrating our current Gold DofE candidates’ success at the end of their journey.”
