A Bushey student has received recognition in a national photography competition.
Gracie, who is in Year 12 at St Margaret’s School, received a Commended award for her submission, titled Pedicab Trails, in the Youth Cityscapes category at the Young Landscape Photographer of the Year competition.
Gracie said: “For me this photograph represents an area of experimental photography which I am highly interested in as the abstract component of the light trail encourages the viewer to take an extra moment to understand what is happening in the picture. The capturing of this image was not necessarily a planned shoot however, I think the spontaneity of the composition contributes to the overall abstract atmosphere. I took this photograph out on a shoot with my Dad who plays a huge role in inspiring my photographic passion as well as accompanying me on many very cold, early morning shoots. We attended the awards together, and therefore the success of this image in this year’s Youth Landscape Photographer of the Year will always bring back my memories of this accomplishment and my appreciation for those around me that made it possible.”
