HOMES DENIED: Developer loses appeal to build homes on green space in Croxley Green

A developer has lost an appeal to build nine new homes on green space in the village.

In a report published on March 10, a planning inspector rejected Kebbell Development Ltd proposal for six flats and three houses on land in Sycamore Road.

Three Rivers District Council’s planning committee rejected the plans in April 2021 and Kebbell Homes then took the decision to the planning inspectorate, who denied the plans on the grounds that the “distinctive characteristics” of the green space would be “eroded” amongst other things.

Local councillors and residents have expressed their relief at the news the green space will remain in the village for the time being.

Green Party Councillor Chris Mitchell said: “Great news that the Sycamore road development appeal has been dismissed. I congratulate all the residents for putting in so many objections. The chair of the management association for the flats worked really hard as we did on the Parish Council. Overall this made the TRDC planning committee take notice.”

Liberal Democrat District Councillor Margaret Hofman said: “Cllr Dominic Sokalski and I spoke against the development at the Council April Planning Committee. We cited concerns over flood risk, parking, harm to wildlife and damage to visual amenities.

“Lib Dem-run Three Rivers have now refused development on the site four times over the years. It is a huge relief the Government have not overruled the Council.”

Kebbell Homes were contacted for comment.
