TOP TOWN: Gerrards Cross named as one of most ‘desirable places to live’ in the UK

Gerrards Cross has been named as one of the top 10 most desirable places to live in the country by a national newspaper.

In a poll commissioned by The Daily Telegraph and carried out by estate agents Savills, the town placed eighth in the list, just above Berkhamsted and St Albans, which placed ninth and tenth respectively.

The article states: “Picturesque, friendly and peaceful, the beautiful Buckinghamshire landscape is the most filmed in England (largely because it’s home to the major studios of Pinewood and Elstree).

“The draw here is about good schools (both state and private) and the 20-minute journey to London Marylebone.”

It’s a high ranking for the town, which is only beaten in Buckinghamshire by Amersham, which came fifth, and Beaconsfield, which came third.

Nearby Chorleywood also came fourth, while Harpenden came first.

The data was compiled based on the proportion of residents holding managerial jobs, their level of qualifications, the average cost of buying a house, and residents’ health.
