A Pinner resident has called on the Leader of Harrow Council to withdraw his support for the government’s mini-budget.
Many people have expressed concerns about the impact the six per cent interest rate could have on mortgages.
Speaking at Harrow Civic Centre at the beginning of October, the Leader of Harrow Council councillor Paul Osborn said: “I support the budget. I think it’s a good budget.”
The resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: “It’s shocking to hear our local Pinner councillor Paul Osborn supporting the mini-budget. This isn’t just a news story; it will have real-life consequences.
“I’m worried about how I’ll afford my mortgage if it goes up. Some people may even lose their homes. How can cllr Osborn say he’s ‘putting residents first’ when he supports a budget that has such dire consequences to the people he’s supposed to serve?”
Cllr Osborn has been contacted for comment.
