A retired physiotherapist who spent years of her career in a top role at a local hospital trust has been given an honorary fellowship.
Dr Carole McCarthy spent four decades working in the NHS across acute, community and primary care. For many years, she was head of therapy services at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which manages Mount Vernon in Northwood and the nearby Hillingdon Hospital.
Despite retiring from healthcare four years ago, Dr McCarthy has now been given an honorary fellowship by Brunel University London, where she also spent many years contributing to the institution’s physiotherapy course. She received her award at a ceremony on Monday, July 15.
A spokesperson for Brunel said: “Colleagues at the university have been inspired by her caring, empathetic and strong leadership, and her passionate advocacy for the profession, with the care of patients and staff at heart.”
