RSPCA Chiltern Branch is encouraging Hemel Hempstead residents to explore the joys of fostering pets, to help give rescued animals the best chance at finding their forever home.
After sharing on their social media that eight 10-week-old kittens had been rescued by the shelter, the team emphasised the importance of fostering animals. This is of particular importance in Hemel, where a large number of missing animals are found.
A spokesperson for RSPCA Chiltern Branch said: “Fostering an animal is a short-term commitment with permanent rewards. It’s free; we pay for all food, vet costs and equipment.
“All we ask is for your time and an open heart. Many of the animals we take in have suffered and are not used to the care and affection they deserve. Living with a foster family helps give them that one-on-one care to build trust and confidence.
“Because of foster homes, we have a 96 per cent successful adoption rate; they truly make a difference in our animals’ lives, and so can you.”
