Sorbon Estates has submitted a planning application for the redevelopment of a section of Berkhamsted High Street, including nearly 70 new homes.
Sorbon Estates recently acquired 162-166 High Street (previously Costa Coffee), which has been incorporated into the proposals. This follows the purchase of 168-192 High Street in 2023, completing the site of approximately 1.5 acres.
The development will also include 69 apartments, providing a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes with dedicated parking. There will also be retail space and a new courtyard square to the rear of the property.
Tim Matthews, the commercial development surveyor leading the project at Sorbon Estates, said: “We are incredibly excited to submit our plans for Berkhamsted’s regeneration. This development is a direct response to what the town has told us it wants – an improved High Street, enhanced public spaces, and a thriving local economy. The positive feedback we’ve received so far has been truly encouraging, and we are confident that our plans will provide lasting benefits for the community.”
