STEP-UP: Watford mayor raises £400 for charity in active challenge

Published on: 19th October 2021   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor raised £400 after taking part in Watford FC Community Sport and Education Trust’s Step-Up Challenge.

The challenge involved climbing all 1,750 steps of Watford Football Club’s Vicarage Road stadium – the equivalent of climbing up and down the Empire State Building in New York.

Watford FC Community and Sports Education Trust is an award-winning charity using the power of sport, physical activity and learning to engage and inspire.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, pictured alongside former Watford FC star Luther Blissett, said: “I can safely say I was not expecting the climb to be quite that difficult but it was all for a very good cause.

“Well done to everyone who took part in the challenge on the day – I very much felt your pain!

“I would also like to say thank you to everyone in involved with this brilliant event, especially the volunteers and team at Watford FC Sports and Education Trust.

“The work that they do is so valuable for local people and our community, and it is only through fundraising efforts like this that they are able to continue their important work.”
