Tennis and squash club becomes Maccabi training hub

Radlett Lawn Tennis and Squash Club (RLTSC) has been named the British training hub for the International Maccabi Games.

Jordan Miles, a senior performance coach for the British Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), has been appointed Team GB manager for the Jewish event in Budapest.

He said: “We are proud to announce Radlett Lawn Tennis and Squash Club (RLTSC) as the training hub for the international Maccabi Games. Our coaching team are involved in developing some of the country’s top Jewish talent and I (Jordan Miles) have been appointed as the Team GB tennis manager and will be taking a team along to Budapest this summer to compete for medals!

“RLTSC have built a successful tennis programme for all standards and includes a highly regarded junior performance academy, whereby world ranked juniors have been produced and a popular holiday camp (see rltsc.com for details).

“Our juniors develop through our intensive programme and have been supported in tournaments nationally and internationally. Many of the juniors I have mentored and coached are Jewish and I have been lucky to have been involved in many of their Bar-Mitzvahs and other religious celebrations.

“I fully understand the challenges juniors face when competing, particularly abroad, and I’ve witnessed the benefits it can bring to an individual, both in terms of character and team spirit. Budapest will be very much a team effort and I see a large part of my role as ensuring the players all support each other through the tough times and the good.

“I am extremely honoured to have been asked to take on the role of the GB tennis coach and I will strive to ensure each player takes something valuable away from their experience. But make no mistake….we are there to win!”
