Talented junior golfers have claimed trophies as a popular tournament returned to Stanmore for the second year.
Stanmore Golf Club hosted the inaugural Dave Tomlinson Junior Open Trophy last year, welcoming juniors from an array of clubs ranging from South Herts Golf Club (SHGC) to Moor Park.
Last year, 30 junior golfers from 10 clubs took part. This year, this increased to 45 golfers from 15 clubs.
Teeing off on Monday, August 21, Para Bhatt won the Stableford competition with an outstanding score of 45. Meanwhile, scorer of the lowest gross was the Stanmore club’s very own Amil Chandaria with a round of 73 (4+).
Members Nathan Harris and Ilyas Daneshmand also picked up prizes for nearest the pin on the 17th and 8th respectively.
A spokesperson for the club said: “A special thank you to Derek Tomlin, Paul Harris and his team of volunteers, club captain Arvind Hirani, Myles and Alex Bowell for running the event, and Dave Niccol who acted as our mobile rules official, helping those juniors who were a bit unsure when they found themselves in a sticky situation.”
