A man was kept in a cell overnight after a tense situation in which police almost used a taser on him in Croxley.
Officers were called to the scene on New Road, near the Croxley Green Tube station, at around 7.32pm on Thursday, May 30, responding to reports of a man having a knife in his possession. It was reported he had threatened to kill another individual.
Upon arriving, one officer did draw their taser device, which according to a spokesperson for Herts Police, is normal protocol for police arriving to scenes such as the one that was described to them in the initial report.
The spokesperson added: “We can confirm that the officer did not fully activate the taser device, as the situation diffused.”
The man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a bladed article in a public place, common assault, and criminal damage. He was released without any charge the following day (Friday, May 31).
Any truth that Watford Observer say the man was 82 years old?
