Tanners Wood receives promising result from Ofsted inspection

A school in Abbots Langley which was judged as requiring improvement by Government inspectors had a second visit last week. Tanners Wood Junior Mixed and Infant School was given the overall judgement of requiring improvement by Ofsted in December. The results of a recent visit, on March 12, were a lot more positive however. Marianick Ellender-Gele found that senior leaders and governors were taking effective action to tackle the areas requiring improvement. The inspection letter read: “With governors and senior leaders you are tackling weaknesses, rightly focusing on improving the quality of teaching and learning. Your improvement plan is fit for purpose and a range of helpful opportunities are identified for staff to develop their skills. Governors have allocated significant funds for staff training. They articulate clearly their intention to check whether this investment is having the intended positive impact on pupils’ progress.” For more, see April’s My Abbots News, out April 4
