New Watford manager Nigel Pearson and goalkeeper Ben Foster have been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Month and Player of the Month awards respectively for December, following a turnaround in form.
The former Leicester manager suffered a defeat to league leaders Liverpool in his first game, but has not lost since, beating Manchester United, Aston Villa and Wolves, and drawing away to Sheffield United.
Pearson is nominated alongside Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp whose side won five out of five games in the Premier League, and Manchester United’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who managed impressive victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
The 56-year-old, who has also managed Derby and OH Leuven recently, was brought in after Hugo Sanchez Flores was sacked at the end of November.
Ben Foster, who is one of eight players nominated, kept two clean sheets during December and made some excellent saves against Manchester United and Sheffield United in particular.
The Hornets have recently moved off the bottom of the Premier League and are now just two points behind safety, with forward players Ismaila Sarr, Gerard Deulofeu and Troy Deeney all finding the net in December.
