SUPER SPEED: Talented Berkhamsted teen driver to compete in junior racing championships

A Berkhamsted teenager is set to put the pedal to the metal when he takes part in a national junior car racing championship this year.

Isaac Phelps, 14, is one of the 25 young racers aged 14 to 17 competing in this year’s Ginetta Junior Championship, which begins at the end of this month.

He will race his car at such iconic UK racetracks as Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington Park.

Isaac’s love for motorsports started in 2020 when he attended an indoor kart racing party, and since then he’s become an extremely talented young driver and has raced all across Europe.

Speaking to Berko News, Isaac said: “I think it’s really good stepping up to the car championships early, especially as I’d started to not enjoy the karts as much.

“I think the competition is going to be tough, but I feel that I’m even better with cars than with karts. I use my simulator all the time to prepare.”

Isaac’s father Nick added: “I’m very proud of Isaac. I’ve loved cars since I was a small boy, and so has Isaac, so to see what he does on the track is incredible.

“In October, he entered the Ginetta Junior Scholarship and got into the final six out of 70. We had lots of team owners there, and several told me he was setting the fastest lap times.”

Isaac and his family are now looking for sponsors to help him continue his dream of becoming a professional driver.
