FEELING GOOD WEEK: Group’s workshops introduce pupils to sustainability

Published on: 12th March 2024   |   By: Sophia Sheera   |   Category: Uncategorized

Members of Sustainable Three Rivers (S3R) in Rickmansworth were excited to host workshops for budding horticulturalists during their first Feeling Good Week.

With funding from Hertfordshire County Council and the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, S3R founding member Rosi Jordon, S3R director Jane Irwin and workshop leader Ted Casey hosted two workshops for local schoolchildren on February 6 and 8.

First up were a cohort of students from Croxley Danes School, who were shown how to plant herbs at S3R’s bespoke community garden, followed by refreshments and a bird box workshop at Rickmansworth Library.

Two days later, around 90 pupils at Little Green Junior School welcomed Rosi and Ted for a day of science brought to life. Ted delivered a vibrant workshop on seeds and flowers, before pupils had the chance to build their own bird boxes.

Rosi said: “Getting outside and interacting with the environment is a great way to feel good. Ted and I certainly felt great at the end of each session!”
