A 10-year-old boy from Stanmore is helping to protect the environment one piece of litter at a time.
Reiyen Desai first started litter picking during the COVID-19 lockdown and is continuing to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the environment.
With the help of his parents, Reiyen regularly litter picks in areas such as Stanmore Country Park and is hoping to spread the word amongst his friends.
Speaking to StanmoreNews, Reiyen’s mum Prakruti said she is extremely proud of him for his dedication.
She said: “He’s trying to get kids to be a bit more environmentally friendly and pick up rubbish if they see it.
“Reiyen ordered some seeds to give to his friends to get them to plant trees and is trying to do what he can. He also wants to write to the council and ask them to get more bins.
“He just wants to make people more aware, especially the younger generation.”
