Following a Youth Council meeting held in October to discuss various important issues within the community, children from Christchurch School approached councillor Alex Michaels, chairman of the Youth Council and Young Persons’ Champion, to discuss the proposed Wonder Wood for Chorleywood.
The children wanted to try to find a way to discuss and share their views on the proposal. As a result, a further meeting with the local school Youth Councils in Chorleywood to discuss this took place. The children debated and discussed ideas and finally voted unanimously to produce a short video to showcase their thoughts on the project.
In February, 28 children from Arnett Hills, Chorleywood, Christchurch and The Russell Schools took part in producing a film for the local community. The children devised a list of questions themselves to discuss a range of topics from wildlife, location, safety and the proposal in general and then discussed these during the short film.
