Ruislip-based Wealdstone FC have condemned the actions of a fan who assaulted a steward in a recent National League match.

At the Stones’ away game against Barnet FC on Saturday, February 3, a man ran onto the pitch and attacked a matchday steward. The fan had to be restrained by other fans and players.

Barnet have confirmed that the steward did not suffer any serious harm.

Wealdstone’s board of directors issued a statement which read: “Such behaviour is totally unacceptable and goes against the values that our club stands for.

“We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all participants, spectators and attendees at our games, which is why we will be working closely with Barnet Football Club and the

Metropolitan Police to identify and take appropriate action against any supporters who entered the pitch and those directly involved in this incident.”

Barnet have also confirmed that several individuals involved have been identified, charged by police, and banned from their matches indefinitely.
