HAIR-RAISING: Rickmansworth Brownie donates 16 inches of hair to cancer charity

A young Rickmansworth Brownie has bravely donated 16 inches worth of her hair to a charity that provides real hair wigs for children suffering from cancer.

Riddhi, age 9, was inspired to take the action by her local chapter, which has been encouraging its members this term to help others and make a difference. It was her mum who came up with the idea for her daughter to donate her hair.

Riddhi said: “At first I was shocked and thought why does somebody need my hair?

“With a little research I found that donating my hair is not enough. Providing support with funds really helps things work better.

“I selected the Little Princess Trust charity, to make a difference, and because I want to see someone smile.”

The charity provides real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other conditions. Since 2006, they have provided more than 12,000 wigs. Each costs from £550.

Riddhi has appealed to people donate to help her continue to fundraise, with her having already raised an impressive £460. She added: “Every penny you donate really counts. Please help me raise more funds and make someone smile with me.”
