Suspected drugs seized and arrest made after dog called to Watford

A woman was arrested on suspicion of drug offences following an incident in Watford where a dog from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire (BCH) Dog Unit was called to assist officers. After a road traffic collision in Cezanne Road at around 2.45pm on Friday, July 31, a vehicle was searched and suspected controlled drugs found. This then led officers to search an address in the road, which took place on the same afternoon. Police dog Tank, who recently passed a training course to become a drug, cash and ammunitions detection dog, was called to the property to assist officers. The Springer Spaniel soon had his nose in action and located around a number of items suspected to be a controlled drug. These were seized by officers and will be tested in order to identify what they are. A quantity of cash was also found by Tank. Sergeant Vicky Stoughton from the BCH Dog Unit said: “Our highly trained sniffer dogs can save a lot of time that otherwise would be spent by a number of officers searching a house, car or other location. This makes them an ideal asset to assist officers around the three counties. “You can now follow our team’s work on Twitter and Facebook by visiting www.twitter.com/dogpoliceBCH and www.facebook.com/BCHPoliceDogs.
