Big boys bike ride Six local dads and three friends are cycling over 150 miles from Abbots Langley to Wareham in Dorset to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support on July 16. The team of dads, known as the Big Boys are Les Flanders, Andy Cox, Geoff Ashworth, Tim Denyer, David Smiton and Richard Chase and they all have children who attend Tanners Wood School in the village. Les said: “We are all novice cyclists and not all of us are in the peak of fitness! “The ride over three days will provide a physical challenge for all the Big Boys. There will be many hills en route and overnight rest will be camping under canvas!” Big Boys kickstarted their fundraising with a coffee morning at Hillside Residents Office on a sunny Tuesday in June. They served refreshments and donated home-made cakes as they collected over £300 from generous locals. Before they embark on their challenging ride they aim to organise a charity darts tournament to raise further funds. Les added:  “We chose Macmillan Cancer Support as a worthwhile cause as it is close to more than one member of the team and the charity provides valuable help and support to people living with cancer and their families.” If you would like to support the Big Boys and Macmillan Cancer Support, please visit just giving at:   https://www.justgiving.com/BigBoys150
