Paul Mendelson, an author and sitcom creator from Pinner, will be releasing a new children’s novel named ‘The Funnies’ which will be released on February 28, following the success of his previous ‘Losing Arthur’.
Mr Mendelson was the writer of the famous ‘May to December’ sitcom, which is currently being replayed on London Live, which was also based in Pinner.
David Lister from The Independent reviewed the new book and described it as ‘very funny’.
He said: “A world in which a sense of humour is removed at birth – an intrepid band determined to restore laughter. An exciting and very funny tale, with a slightly sinister Orwellian subtext.”
Speaking to PinnerNews, Mr Mendelson said: “It’s flattering for the book to be likened to one of George Orwell’s, I started writing it a few years ago but stopped, and then last year I went back to it because of how much people liked Losing Arthur.
“I’m a comedy writer, and I always try to write my books from a comedic perspective but there will also be a serious message in there.
“The book will appeal to children, but adults can definitely enjoy it too.”
In the January edition of PinnerNews, we also reported on Paul Mendelson, but used a picture of a different author who shares the same name.
We would like to apologise for the inaccuracy in that article, and the correct Paul Mendelson, who did write ‘May To December’ is pictured above.
