A local youth has become the youngest-ever player to captain a senior Chalfont St Peter side.
At a mere 17 years of age, Henry Dudley became Chalfont St Peter’s youngest player on record to captain a senior side, something which Michael East describes as “unheard of.”
Michael East, co-manager of the club, said that Henry had initially been slightly shy and reserved upon joining the team. The team, whose players range in age from 17 to 35, can sometimes present a challenge for younger players who find it “overwhelming” at first, but managers and coaches identified Henry as a promising young player.
When the usual skipper was unable to play, the club decided Henry was “the best man for the job”, and he didn’t disappoint. Michael said Henry had a “phenomenal attitude” and performed excellently out on the pitch in the game against Virigina Water Football Club.
