Two recent by-elections have taken place in Chorleywood, filling positions on both the parish council and the district council.
The seats opened up following the resignations of district councillor Phil Williams in the Chorleywood South and Maple Cross Ward of Three Rivers District Council (TRDC), and of parish councillor Ash Bhardwaj in the Chorleywood South Ward of Chorleywood Parish Council (CPC). Both of the former councillors were Lib Dems.
The elections were held on Thursday, December 14. In the TRDC election, a total of 1,206 votes were cast, with Lib Dem Harry Davies winning the seat with 58 per cent of the vote.
In the CPC election, 908 votes were cast, and the Lib Dems were victorious once again with their candidate Jennifer Whinnett winning 51 per cent of the vote.
Newly elected cllr Davies said: “I am delighted to have been elected in was a most difficult time to hold a by-election.
“I am returning to the district council after having previously served for a number of years. I am already dealing with several issues raised by residents, including localised flooding, potholes, and other matters of concern to residents.”
