A substantial amount of ammunition and firearms were recovered at an address in Adrian Road in Abbots Langley yesterday afternoon (Tuesday March 12) by a relative of the resident.
As a precaution and for the safety of the public, EOD, CBRN and the fire brigade were called and the house is being cleared of all firearms today, so officers can establish exactly what is in the address and make sure all weapons are safe and accounted for.
Officers and specialist teams are also searching a garage in Langley Road.
Abbots Langley neighbourhood sergeant, Chris Simmons, said: “We understand this may cause concern to local residents seeing so many officers, including the EOD and CBRN, but there is no need to be alarmed.
“We are dealing with this with specialist officers for the safety of residents. Please bear with us as it will take some time to clear until we are happy that all the weapons and ammunition are safe and accounted for.”
The resident is a licenced firearms holder.
