Big changes are coming to Croxley Green, thanks to £1 million in development contributions that will be used to build affordable homes.
Three Rivers District Council agreed plans to demolish the former Red Cross building on Barton Way. It will be replaced with a three-storey development blending community spirit with modern living.
Designed with Croxley Green Parish Council and Watford Community Housing, the building offers a new parish council office and flexible community space on the ground floor, with eight affordable flats above.
The funding comes from Section 106 ‘off-site’ contribution, which is money from other developments that couldn’t include affordable homes.
Approved on Tuesday, December 9, this investment will ease pressure on the local housing waiting list.
Council leader Stephen Giles-Medhurst said: “Using funds we received from other developments is a smart use of money that will help ease our housing waiting list when the flats are built.”
