STOLEN CARS: String of night-time vehicle thefts off residents’ drives

Published on: 15th September 2022   |   By: Darius Morgan   |   Category: Uncategorized

St Albans residents are being warned to stay vigilant after a spate of night-time car thefts.

Some of these thefts include a white range rover taken from Sandridge road, a black Mercedes stolen off the drive at Jersey Farm, and another Mercedes, stolen from Berkley Close. All thefts occurred between September 1 and September 4.

In one instant, Ring camera footage shows the thieves fleeing in the stolen vehicle. The resident posted the video to Facebook, revealing that they were in the middle of a house move, and that “The car was still full of clothes and other items. We haven’t even settled in properly yet.”

St Albans Detective Sergeant Amy Tarver said: “We are currently investigating the thefts of these vehicles. We have a number of lines of enquiry, and we will do everything we can to get these vehicles back to their rightful owners.  We are keen to speak to anyone who has doorbell footage or CCTV that we have not already spoken to.”

He added: “Please make sure you securely lock your vehicles and remove any valuables and personal belongings.”
