An Abbots Langley resident has raised more than £2,000 for charity after cycling 160 miles from London to Amsterdam.
Chris Drake, 61, took part in the Football to Amsterdam cycling challenge last month on June 10-11, cycling from the Olympic Park London to the Johan Cruyff arena in Amsterdam.
Speaking about why he decided to take on the challenge for Prostate Cancer UK, Chris said he was taking part to honour his friend Chris Allen who sadly passed away last year.
He said: “I’m personally taking part in memory of a very good footballing mate of mine who sadly passed away last November after battling against cancer for many years.
“Football and cricket were always my favourite sports, but as I don’t play them any more my main hobbies are fishing and mountain biking. I’ve been mountain biking for five years and invested in a decent bike which has lasted well.
“If not for the COVID lockdown and a hip replacement in 2019, I would have taken part a few years before.”
