Kingsway Junior School in Garston has received planning permission to build a new classroom.
The application was submitted earlier this year and proposes a single-storey, two-bay modular building which will provide a single 44sqm classroom. It will be located on an area of “poor condition grass” at the rear of the school.
On Wednesday, April 16, Watford Borough Council approved the proposal, with several provisions in place such as environmental control.
A noise impact plan will see work restricted to 8am to 6pm on weekdays and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays, and noisy work prohibited on Sundays and bank holidays.
A spokesperson for Kingsway Junior School told GARSTONnews: “Throughout the year, our School Council has engaged with our classes to discuss various ways to enhance our school environment.
“One standout idea was an outdoor area or hut for pupils to enjoy games, reading and quiet time. This idea was presented to the governors, who were delighted to approve this idea.
“The concept has since evolved into an outdoor building for year-round use. Our pupils are excited for the outdoor classroom’s arrival.”
