A theatre troupe of young performers from Rickmansworth and Croxley are set to bring one of the country’s most famous musicals to the stage- complete with a flying car!
The Rickmansworth Players Youth Theatre (RPYT) will be staging a new production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr. over the February half term, with the group’s talented set team having their biggest job yet in constructing the prop for the titular magic car.
The show tells the story of eccentric inventor Caractus Potts, who whilst restoring an old racing car with his grandchildren discovers the car is magic and can fly.
The RPYT was founded in 2011, and consists of actors, costumers, sound teams, set designers, propmakers and many more young people doing all manner of jobs involved in the world of theatre.
Its members often produce full-scale stage shows, and several have even gone on to have roles in theatrical productions in the West End.
The show is set to run for five performances between February 26 to February 28, with both matinee and evening shows to take place, all at the Pump Theatre in Watford.
