Amersham residents will now be able to channel their inner Chris Packham CBE, thanks to a new information panel that depicts the history of a beloved river.
In December, Mayor of Amersham councillor Dominic Pinkney unveiled a new information panel about the history and ecology of the River Misbourne in Barn Meadow, on behalf of the Amersham Society.
The panel features illustrations, images and information provided by Amersham Museum. It aims to teach residents about the history of the river, as well as Amersham’s local mills, breweries, maltings, and the damage these caused to the river and its environment. It also explains how the community can help to protect the river.
Posting on social media, Mayor Pinkney said: “A huge thank you to the Amersham Society for their hard work in producing a fascinating information board about the River Misbourne at Church Mead.
“Check it out; even the most knowledgeable local is likely to learn something new!”
