A 16-year-old boy was arrested last night (June 11) in Berners Drive on suspicion of five robberies that have happened near the Alban Way following a targeted police operation.
The five offences are three robberies and two attempted robberies involving three women and two men:
A woman was robbed by a man who threatened her with a knife on the Alban Way at 9.10pm last night (Tuesday, June 11). Police recovered the handbag.
A man was approached by a male with a knife who threatened him in Prospect Road on Monday, June 10 at 10.30pm. He was asked for his phone and cash. The man stole his bag.
A woman was robbed by a male who threatened her with a knife in Grindcobbe Close in Cottonmill at 11pm on Friday, June 7. He demanded her handbag. She gave him £15 in cash. He also asked for her phone, which she did not hand over.
A man was approached by a male carrying a knife who threatened him on a cycle path on the Alban Way, off Berners Drive, between 11.35pm and 11.50pm on Sunday, May 12.
A man walking a dog was threatened by a male with a knife in Monks Close in Cottonmill between 9.15pm and 9.25pm on Tuesday, May 7. He handed over his wallet.
The boy from St Albans is currently in police custody.
