Primary school pupils at Hartsbourne Primary School were recently treated to a visit from an Olympic athlete who gave a motivational speech and ran a training session on the school tracks.

Team GB Olympic sprinter Margaret Adeoye visited the school on June 9 as part of Get Set For Tokyo Week, a week of activities based around the Olympics to raise the profile of the event and get children active and moving their bodies after lockdown.

Mrs Danni Harte, Head Teacher told BusheyNews: “Margaret did an assembly outside to the whole school, she talked about how she trained to become an olympian, what motivated her, discussed teamwork and the importance of listening to coaches and then led training sessions for the pupils.

“Thank you so much to Margaret Adeoye for coming to speak to the children and for running such excellent sessions with them. They had a fabulous time.”

Margaret Adeoye is a successful sprinter who competed for Team GB at the London 2012 Olympics where she reached the semi-finals of the 200m and finished seventh.
