SPREADING JOY: Rickmansworth care home residents join in with series of festive challenges

Riverside Care Home in Rickmansworth has taken part in a Christmas challenge which spread joy among residents and staff.

Competing against Quantum’s other care homes across the county, Riverside’s residents undertook a series of 12 challenges throughout December. This included attending a pantomime, going out for a festive meal, and completing a garden centre scavenger hunt.

One challenge saw the residents channel their inner Ed Sheeran to create a parody of The 12 Days of Christmas.

“On the 12th day of Christmas my carer gave to me,” the residents’ rendition went, with tongue-in -cheek gifts such as cold tea, wobbly chairs, missing dentures and clashing Zimmer frames.

The icing on the cake that concluded the challenges came in the form of a special visit from the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, Annie Brewster, who judged the cake competition.

Speaking to RickYnews, Sarah Pratt, the home’s customer relationship manager, said: “It has been amazing. It provided social interactivity and comradery between staff and residents. Everyone was treated the same and everyone joined in.”

The winner of Quantum’s competition will be announced in the new year.
