SHUTTING DOWN: Closing Abbots Langley care home promises residents help

Published on: 27th March 2020   |   By: Jake Levison   |   Category: Uncategorized

An Abbots Langley care home set to close down has assured its residents that they will receive support in finding new accommodation.

Quantum Care recently announced it will be closing Margaret House in Parsonage Close in June because the building is no longer fit for purpose.

A Quantum Care spokesperson said: “We have made the difficult decision to close Margaret House and offer residents full support to find alternative accommodation either within Quantum Care or another care home of their choice outside the Quantum Care group.

“This decision was made with the full support of Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) and we are now working with them and other relevant partner organisations, to make sure the closure and relocation runs smoothly for residents and staff.

“We would like to reassure residents and their loved ones that this move will not impact the high-quality care they currently receive.”

HCC commissions Quantum Care to provide care.

A spokesperson for HCC said: “Unfortunately, despite ongoing investment, they have concluded that the building is no longer fit for purpose and does not allow them to provide the quality of care required to support those living and working at Margaret House.

“The safety, continuation and quality of care for people receiving services are always our priority. We understand that change can be unsettling for both residents and their families and friends; however, we would like to assure anyone affected by the home closure that we are working closely with Quantum Care Ltd to ensure the closure is undertaken in a planned way, and we will work with Quantum to support residents and staff through the relocation process with as little disruption as possible.”
