A former Bushey resident has shared her experience of growing up in the area in her recently published memoir.
Caroline Rollo released her first book, Spiritual Knowings, at the end of April. The memoir details her mother’s journey from Gibraltar to Liverpool as an evacuee. During the Second World War, the British government ordered the evacuation of thousands of Gibraltarians to make way for the conversion of Gibraltar into a fully fledged naval fortress.
Speaking to BUSHEYnews, Caroline said: “It was a story I really wanted to tell. Many people don’t know what the people of Gibraltar sacrificed.”
The book also explores Caroline’s childhood in Bushey in the 1950s and her experiences with spirituality and mediumship
She explained: “I have always been spiritual – for me, everything happens for a reason. I use spirituality to teach people about meditation and how to cope with the stresses of modern life.”
