The spirit of Christmas goodwill was in the air in Chipperfield this month as a care company organised its annual big Christmas lunch for elderly clients.
Many of the elderly residents and their carers from BeeKind Services gathered at Chipperfield Village Hall on Wednesday, December 6, for a real treat.
Together, they celebrated the festive season with a specially cooked Christmas lunch, with all the turkey and extras they could want, along with crackers and good chat.
During the meal, they were also treated to a special performance of Christmas nativity songs from the pupils of St Paul’s Primary School and a free raffle of gifts donated by the carers.
BeeKind have been organising this event since they were founded three years ago.
Speaking to Kings News, BeeKind chief Louise Hammond said of the original idea for the lunch: “It was to give something back to our clients. A lot of them don’t get out that much, they don’t have a really good home-cooked meal, so we’ve got a traditional roast dinner for them, and they love it.
“It just gives them an opportunity to get out. All of our carers give up their day and make sure the day is wonderful.”
