‘SPECIAL MOMENT’: Hatch End Tennis Club marks centenary with community celebration

One hundred years ago, the first serve was made on the courts of Hatch End Tennis Club – and ever since, they’ve been acing the true spirit of friendship, sportsmanship and community.

On Saturday, June 28, members of the club came together to acknowledge and celebrate the centenary in style.

Revellers were greeted by the eight-piece Little Big Band, who put everyone in the party mood with music from the likes of Glenn Miller.

Under scorching sun, visitors tucked into delicious food provided by local North Harrow restaurant Saras.

Club chairman Vikas Dabral welcomed special guests including Hatch End councillor Matthew Goodwin-Freeman, and Middlesex Tennis chair Phil Veasey and general manager Andrew Lewandowski.

In a speech, cllr Goodwin-Freeman congratulated the club on their success in reaching the milestone birthday.

Building a community like no other, the last century has served up huge wins for the club.

In the last year, the club were announced as Club of the Year 2025 by Middlesex Tennis as well as receiving the LTA Excellence Award 2025 from the Lawn Tennis Association.

Catching up with Pinner News after the celebrations, Vikas said: “This is a very special moment in the club’s history, and we are delighted that current and former members have come together to mark the occasion.”
