New community choir for Abbots Langley

Published on: 5th July 2018   |   By: Jason Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A new community choir is being launched in Abbots Langley this September.

Local charity Electric Umbrella are challenging the perception of people with learning disabilities by enriching and empowering lives through music.

They provide a mouthpiece for people who are otherwise inaudible to the mainstream by creating a platform for adults with learning disabilities to perform.

With a dazzling array of credentials to their name, Electric Umbrella have gigged far and wide over the past few years, with sell-out shows at Watford Palace Theatre, their own summer festival ‘Umbrellafest’, the creation of the ‘Little Yellow Theatre’, written their own musical, released a Christmas single; appeared on live radio and gigged in small pubs, big festivals and everything in between.

They are now set to launch a community Choir this coming September in Abbots Langley – and want everyone to be involved.

The choir is described as a real opportunity to come together as one voice and sing regardless of ability or experience.

The Big Yellow Choir will meet weekly on Wednesday evenings from September 12 at Breakspeare School, Abbots Langley.

Fees are £60 per term. Those that sign up before the end of July will receive a FREE Big Yellow Choir T-shirt! An application form can be requested by contacting choir@electricumbrella.co.uk
