SPEAK UP: Housing association visits hundreds of residents

A Watford housing association has held its first major community engagement event since merging two organisations with staff visiting residents across its communities.

A total of 310 colleagues visited homes on September 23, holding 521 conversations with customers and identifying 182 estate-related issues.

Chime Housing was formed through the merger of Thrive Homes and Watford Community Housing in June, with the Community Connect event bringing together staff, board members and residents from its Gateway Membership Team.

Visits prioritised residents who had requested a home visit or had limited contact with the organisation during the previous year, with teams also gathering feedback on local neighbourhoods.

Paul Harris, Executive Director of Operations, said: “Community Connect is about being present in our neighbourhoods, listening to customers and turning those conversations into action.

“Speaking with more than 500 customers in one day helped us better understand what matters locally, respond quickly to concerns and arrange further support where it was needed.

“We want customers to see that their voices shape what we do and how we improve our neighbourhoods.”

The association, based on Clarendon Road, said the 182 estate-related issues identified were addressed with support from dedicated response teams, with concerns including communal areas, play spaces and security discussed during visits.

Further events are planned for evenings and weekends, while residents can request home visits at any time and continue to raise concerns through regular estate and block inspections.

Chime Housing manages more than 13,500 homes and associated assets across Hertfordshire and surrounding areas.
