A Watford business owner has been labelled a huge part of a racing driver’s recent success after more than a decade of sponsorship and support.
Driving a McLaren Artura GT4, Aaron Cooke claimed four race wins, a second-place finish, and Driver of the Weekend honours in the GT Cup Championship between September 19 and October 11 – continuing a fine run of form to close out the year.
Cooke has progressed through the motorsport ranks despite the financial and logistical challenges involved, as developing a driver from junior karting to the doorstep of Formula One is estimated to cost between £5.4million and £7.7m.
Watford man and Pirtek Franchise Operator Andy Williams has supported Cooke’s career by providing employment opportunities and sponsorship through Pirtek Watford as the racer pursued his dream career in motorsport.
Cooke said: “Throughout my career, Andy and Pirtek have been a huge part of my journey, helping create opportunities that may otherwise have been out of reach.
“What has always made the relationship special is that it has never felt like a traditional sponsorship. It’s been built on passion and a shared desire to see people succeed.”
Williams added: “Aaron has shown tremendous dedication throughout the years I’ve known him. He’s worked incredibly hard and we’re proud to have played a role in helping him on that journey.”
