SNATCH AND GRAB: Northwood lose to last minute goal by South Park

Published on: 18th January 2020   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Northwood F.C

Northwood’s poor run continued this afternoon as an 88th minute winner meant South Park FC went home with all three points.

It was a lively start to the game with the visitors nearly going one nil up in the opening minutes – Lea-Van Sullivan’s effort went just over the bar.

South Park looked strong both going forward and at the back as they continued to prevent The Woods from getting a clear cut chance.

The Woods were enjoying possession down each flanks which led to Eric Lopes’ shot deflected wide. Great chance for Northwood.

Another fantastic block by a South Park defender prevented Northwood from taking a first half lead through Lopes.

A mix of poor finishing and desire from both sides meant it was 0-0 at the break.

Northwood’s ability to miss big chances haunted them once again in the second half as Lopes burst into the box resulted in him shooting straight at the keeper.

The visitors upped their tempo at the start of the second half and the Woods keeper made a fantastic save to keep it goalless.

Another great save from Woods’ keeper kept his team in the game.

With only two minutes left on the clock, a ball given away in midfield was picked up by Leon Moore who shot past Rackley to score the winner. Heartbreak for the home side.

Another loss for Northwood who didn’t deserve to lose today.

The Woods next play Marlow on Tuesday, January 21.
