A Bushey resident and his son recently jumped 13,000ft from a plane to raise money for a homelessness charity.
Ian Banfield, who is afraid of heights, and his son James braved the jump on Saturday, July 27.
Ian revealed that he wasn’t as scared as he had expected, sharing with BUSHEYnews: “I was somersaulting in the sky and it was so quick, my brain didn’t really have time to be scared.
“It was brilliant looking around and enjoying the view.”
Ian and James are raising money for New Hope, a homelessness charity that provides support through emergency intervention services, an outreach programme, and a support and advice centre.
Ian is a volunteer at New Hope and drives donated food to the charity’s accommodation services, which house up to 50 people per night.
Speaking about the charity, Ian said: “It’s a good cause because there is a sense that people who are homeless brought it on themselves, but that is not the way at all. Some people are just unlucky.”
