A Bushey resident is recruiting new members for an all-male choir based in North London.
Bushey resident Stephen Sweden has been a member of Harrow Male Apollo Choir since 2012 and speaks highly of its benefits. He says that not only is the choir beneficial for health, but also for social connectivity.
He said: “The most important reason for me is the camaraderie.
“We are there to encourage new entrants to do well and when you get an audience clapping enthusiastically – which is usually the case – there is a great feeling of accomplishment.”
The choir was formed in 1941 at the de Havilland Aircraft Factory in Stag Lane, Edgware. Throughout its history, the choir has performed in venues as diverse as the Royal Albert Hall, Cologne Cathedral, Emirates Stadium and Wormwood Scrubs Prison. The choir has also performed overseas, including in Germany, Normandy, Belgium and the USA.
Alongside this, the choir has raised more than £100,000 for charitable causes over the years.
The choir meets at St Alban’s Church Hall in North Harrow. To find out more about joining, please email stephens@jannardquadrant.co.uk
