The Hospice of St Francis has announced that the Classic Car Show event that was scheduled to take place in the town this weekend has been postponed due to concerns over the ongoing heatwave sweeping the nation.
Originally due to take place in Dudswell Field on Sunday, July 17, it has now been moved to September 25.
A spokesperson for the hospice said: “Yesterday, in light of the Met Office reassessment in which they have broadened the extreme heat weather warning over the coming days, we made the difficult decision to postpone our Classic Car Show.
“The event has been rescheduled for Sunday 25th September.
“It’s of course incredibly disappointing to postpone but the safety of exhibitors, participants, vendors, volunteers and staff is always our first priority.”
Everyone who purchased tickets to attend or has registered to exhibit has been notified.
