Croxley-based fighting champion Ellie Harber will compete to win two World Boxing Council (WBC) titles this summer.
The 16-year-old Muay Thai competitor will first attempt to win the coveted under-60kg European WBC title on July 30, facing Irish opponent Emma Toohey in Barnsley.
Then, after being selected to be part of the England Muay Thai team at the World Youth Games, she’ll be heading to Calgary, Canada, to compete with various athletes for gold, silver and bronze medals.
Ellie said: “This is a great opportunity to be fighting for the WBC titles and I am very lucky to be able to do this.
“I can only follow my dream because of my family, donors and my sponsors, Careys of London and King Tape, because without sponsorship it’s hard for me to continue doing what I love. I would also like to thank CROXLEYnews as they have been a great supporter.”
Lyndon Knowles, Ellie’s coach and WBC World Heavyweight Champion, said: “Ellie works hard and is preparing well to be successful in both fights. I am proud of the way she is focusing, and her fight camp is going well. I am pleased to be pushing her hard to help her reach her dreams.”
Ellie trips are all self-funded, so she’s currently looking for support from the Croxley community to help her pursue her sporting career. To donate, visit bit.ly/3u51KNb
She’s also looking for new sponsors to join Careys of London and King Tape. For those interested in supporting this fantastic local athlete, contact Emma Isichei at emmaisichei@hotmail.com
